The Osian camps is located at the eastern adge of the Thar desert, Just 05km from Osiyan train station, 06km from Jain temple and about 75km from Jodhpur airport.
Osian was once a prominent trading center of Rajasthan on the The Spice Routes (Maritime silk roads) between the 8th to 12th century, Nowadays Osian is great amalgamation of the ancient history, rural culture and desert beauty these all make it a pleasant desert camping destination near Jodhpur, while also being a major center of Hinduism and Jainism for hundreds of years. This came to an abrupt end when the town was attacked by the armies of Muhammed of Ghor in 1195.

The Osian desert region is densely populated arid landscape dotted with hamlets of huts and sandstone houses, green millet fields during monsoon period (July to Oct.), domestic animals (sheep, goats, cows and camels), desert wildlife such as antelopes, blue bulls and desert foxes are the game.
