Jain Mahavira Temple is in the back streets of Osian near Jodhpur worth visiting whilst in the desert state of Rajasthan. This temple is amongst the oldest Jain temple (9th century) In the center of the temple lies the gigantic 32 inch sand & cow milk statue of Lord Mahavira in the padmasana posture, Some great carvings and a beautiful painted story board of the life of the last Tirthankara very beautiful sand stone carvings The level of peace and tranquility maintained here is unmatchable. It is great place to go. It has a good dharamshala and Bhojnalay next door for those keen to stay and have Jain food in Osian town. Very well preserved temple given that it is so old (2000 Years old). From the outside it looked like nothing, but once you step inside the silence and peace is overwhelming. We were lucky to be told the history of the temple and the idols by our guide. It was absolutely stunning and completely unexpected. The location is off the beaten track but worth making the effort, an to also see the sun temple ruins. . On the route from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer must visit places & things to do :
Some of the basic things you must bring in the desert tour.
One can get to know A to Z about Marwari horse breed, we can help you to find a good Marwari horse at real stable cost if one interests.
It’s a good idea to do this trip by car and driver. It’s not needed to start very early or late because the Jain temple at Osian remains open from Sunrise (06:00am) till Sunset (05:00pm) and the road trip will takes about one hour & half from Jodhpur to Osian Jain temple.
So either it will be good to start in morning 9:00 am or you can do this trip after lunch in afternoon.
The distance from Jodhpur to Osian is about 65 KM oneway.

We enjoyed every moment of all the time we spent with you and your family. This was the real Rajasthan that we Marwaris had wanted to see for a very long time. The warmth and APNAPAN you showed us by having us as a guest in your house, was really special to us and we would cherish these moments and memories for all our lives. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
